It is not required for all, however shipments can be held by local authority in United Arab Emirates after screening due to lack of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) or NON DG (Dangerous Goods) declaration letter from the shipper resulting to misconnections and impacting end-to-end service.
It would be advisable for all shipments originating, transiting and terminating for UAE to have MSDS or NON DG declaration from shipper enclosed in the shipment and copies to be uploaded in IDIS.
For a business, the consignee must present the following:
Current Business License, VAT Certificate, email address for contact person, photo ID of contact person (NIB Card), telephone number mobile/landline.
For an individual, the consignee needs to present the following:
Photo ID (NIB CARD), email, complete street address and phone number.
UPS or a third-party broker must do the Customs clearance on shipments that are held by Customs.
All shipments require commercial invoices.
All non-document shipments require prior notification.
Restrictions may apply for freight collect shipments from the origin country or territory. Contact UPS or the UPS service partner in the origin country or territory prior to shipping.
There are special stipulations on the following commodities when shipping to Bahamas. If you plan to ship one of the commodities listed below, be sure to adhere to the following stipulations in order to avoid delays and holds at customs.
Original invoices are required by law. Invoices on company letterhead are preferred and the word "Invoice" must be on the letterhead. All other types of invoices will result in shipment being transferred to Customs hold until proper paperwork is received. All shipments that are transferred will require a formal entry, which is more expensive and a longer process.
Computer-generated invoices are not accepted. Customs will not accept WorldShip generated invoices.
All shipments destined for Abaco and Freeport must have an original invoice. Pro forma invoices are not accepted.
The consignee's telephone number must appear on the invoice.
The destination country or territory considers the following items document shipments. If criteria are listed, the shipment must meet the criteria to be considered a document shipment.
If any of the items in the document checklist are shipped in a pak or any other packaging other than a document envelope, they will be considered non-docs and duties will be applied accordingly by Bahamian Customs.
In addition to the prohibited commodities listed here, it is prohibited to ship the following commodities to Bahamas.
Animal hides, skins, horns and hoofs are all prohibited.
