Import Restrictions
Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:
bees
books and magazines
cassettes / video tapes
fats, oils and waxes
food and beverages
fresh fruits
leeches
parasites, insects
matches and lighters
medicaments
silk worms
song birds
tobacco
tree seeds
vegetables
worn clothing.
Medicines and medical supplies must be registered with the Drug Administration and Control Authority of Ethiopia. Any plant or plant product, including seeds, agricultural inputs, such as chemicals, pesticides and fertilizers cannot be imported to Ethiopia unless registered and duly authorized for import by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Prohibited Items
In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:
credit card blanks
drugs, non-prescription
ice, in any form
knives
liquor
live animals
soil
weapons.
Documentation Required
Information regarding Customs can be found in "Customs Requirements" of the Canada Postal Guide.
Senders should indicate the addressee's full name, home address (i.e. City, street name, zone, sub-city), P.O. Box number, residential and office phone numbers and, if available, fax and mobile phone numbers on the envelope and Customs Declaration.
In addition, a Certificate of Fumigation must accompany all used clothing mailed to Ethiopia. The articles must be marked FUMIGATED.
The following documents may be required:

2. Manufacturers Invoice
3. Pro-forma Invoices
4. Insurance Certificate
5. Bank Permit
There must be three (3) certified copies of the commercial invoice, along with two detailed copies of the manufacturers invoice.
