Import Restrictions

Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

• anti-parasite products
• books and periodicals in commercial quantities
• canned food
• cosmetics and perfume
• flour and milk for children or the sick
• maps of Peru or neighbouring states
• medicines
• pharmaceutical products
• saccharine and similar products
• telecommunications equipment (e.g. mobile phone)
• valuables
• wines and spirits.

Peru admits gift parcels addressed to natives of Peru to the value of $450US per person per year.

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

• absinthe or similar beverages
• animal and animal products
• antiques
• baby-feeders with tubes
• banknotes, coins, jewels, securities and other valuables
• bees
• calendars
• camping goods
• cartographic or geographic items misrepresenting Peru and its borders
• ceramic products
• contraceptives
• coffee and tea
• cereals
• copper and articles thereof
• drinks manufactured under the brand name "Pisco"
• fats and oils; vegetable or animal
• firearms and firearm parts
• flowers, artificial, and interior ornaments
• foodstuffs, fruits, seeds
• furs and fur clothing
• footwear
• fertilizers
• household articles of iron, steel, copper or aluminium
• leeches
• linen, household
• live animals
• log and timber products from Liberia
• office supplies
• organochlorinated pesticides, their derivatives and components
• parasites and destroyers of noxious insects
• perfumery, soaps, cosmetics
• pesticides
• pictorial novels and short stories featuring violence
• plants or parts of plants
• playing cards
• powder
• publications of a seditious nature
• pyrotechnic products
• salt
• silkworms
• soil
• sound recordings and products

• toys known as "Yoyo Loco" or Yoyo Chino"

Information regarding Customs can be found in "Customs Requirements" of the Canada Postal Guide.

Complete CP 71 and CP 72 forms legibly, in block capitals, and include the addressee's telephone number and e-mail address if any.

Complete CN 23 customs declarations correctly, otherwise, the customs authorities may exercise their right to retain or physically inspect the items concerned.

In addition, commercial goods mailed to Peru require an invoice. If goods exceed $200US value, a Consul of Peru must endorse the invoice.

Postal items of small packets and parcels must not exceed 2 kilograms and 30 kilograms in weight, respectively. The FOB value of postal shipments and postal parcels must not exceed US$2000. Postal shipments that are exempt from tariff duties are parcels and packets mailed for personal use or exclusive use of the consignee, including gifts that do not exceed US$100 in value per shipment, up to a limit of US$1000 per calender year.
