Import Restrictions

Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

  • alcohol and spirits
  • animal products
  • chemical or pharmaceutical products
  • coffee
  • foodstuffs
  • mineral dyes
  • paper and cloth
  • perfume and cosmetics
  • plant products
  • radio sets
  • steel wool
  • tobacco.

Importation of products of animal origin is authorized so long as they are accompanied by a sanitary certificate issued by the veterinary services. The same applies to products of plant origin, whose importation is authorized so long as they are accompanied by a permit and an entry certificate issued by a phytosanitary control service stating that they are not carrying any diseases.

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

  • all shipments and commodities of Palestine Autonomous are prohibited
  • butter, artificial
  • cigarette paper
  • contraceptives and relating literature
  • coins, bank notes, bearer bonds
  • chemical products
  • envelopes for re-mailing
  • fats, foreign
  • fragile articles
  • gambling articles
  • graphite products
  • items offensive to Muslim culture
  • levi jeans
  • liquids or liquefiable elements
  • liquor
  • living insects and their eggs
  • matches
  • mineral products
  • minerals
  • paper coloured with toxic substances
  • plants and parts of plants
  • platinum, gold or silver
  • powder
  • powdered milk
  • publications or items embarrassing to public order
  • precious stones or articles
  • tobacco / tobacco manufacturing apparatus
  • trademarks, false.

Documentation Required

Information regarding Customs can be found in "Customs Requirements" of the Canada Postal Guide.

In addition, commercial shipments mailed to Lebanon valued at £50 Lebanese or more require three copies of a combined Certificate of Origin and commercial invoice.

Commercial shipments must be accompanied by three (3) copies of the commercial invoice, which clearly indicates the country of origin. In addition, assuming the goods are of Canadian or U.S.A. origin, the following signed statement must appear on the invoice:

"WE HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THE INVOICE IS AUTHENTIC, THAT IT IS THE ONLY INVOICE ISSUED BY US FOR THE GOODS DESCRIBED THEREIN AND THAT IT SHOWS THE EXACT VALUE WITHOUT DEDUCTION OR ANY DISCOUNT AND THAT THE ORIGIN IS EXCLUSIVELY FROM CANADA AND/OR U.S.A."
