Import Restrictions

Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

• alcohol
• bees
• communication, telecommunication equipment
• computer components and parts
• distilled spirits
• leeches
• medicines
• mineral waters
• plants and parts of plants
• phones and modems
• serums and vaccines
• sugarcane.

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

• animal products
• airline tickets, blank stock
• asbestos
• antiques
• baby comforters not made of pure rubber
• baby-feeders
• batteries
• bullion and currency
• coins and medallions resembling legal coinage
• conserves with insufficient marks of origin
• contraceptives
• diamonds
• drugs, prescription and non-prescription
• film, undeveloped
• fish conserves
• furs
• gambling devices
• ivory
• jewellery
• knives
• liquor
• military equipment
• non-metric weights and measures
• precious metals and stones
• pornography
• tobacco
• trademarks, French, false or imitated
• trademarks resembling the Red Cross
• x-rays.

In addition, commercial goods mailed to Guinea require an invoice. An import permit is required for many goods. Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit. The sender should provide a Certificate of Origin.

The following documents may be required:

1. Original Commercial Invoice: Customs office refuses copies of invoices.
